5 Ways To Look Skinny In Pictures
A sequence in the 90’s hit sitcom ‘Friends’ had the characters booing Monica for looking fat on her prom night. She was a chubby girl in school, but had turned out to be a lovely and slim lady as she grew up.
When the camera panned on the high-school going Monica, she had love handles bulging out from everywhere possible, and what’s best, she was munching on a hamburger while her father loving videoed her!
When her Rachael, Ross, Chandler and Joey laugh at her girth, she says in self defense,“The camera adds ten pounds!” Chandler, the one with the biggest funny bone instantly quips, “So how many cameras were there?” how to make yourself look skinny in pictures, then there are certain tricks that you would need to follow to cheat the lens.
Sometimes the best moments of our lives are ruined by the ugly angle of the camera lens, and we end up looking unattractive and overweight. Imagine your wedding photos being ruined just because the camera person didn’t know which the best angles were for you!
Would you not want to strangle him with your bare hands? But hey… cool down. There are ways to keep those memories alive and young, and slim! There are a few tricks to cheat the camera, and once you have mastered them you would know how to make yourself look skinny in pictures.
Pose Correctly
The first trick is to learn how to pose correctly for the camera. Use a self timer and go on a clicking spree in your room. Make sure the door is locked, or you might be walked in on, and that wouldn’t really be a moment of pride!
If you are taking pictures while standing, make sure you cross one leg in front of the other, and with your body turned 45 degrees away from where the camera is.
Your head and shoulders should be facing the lens and you should muster up some attitude you can and flirt with the lens. The position may seem awkward at first, but with practice, you won’t look any less like a Keira Knightly or a Julia Roberts.
Gran was right- Don’t slouch
Your posture while taking the picture is a vital aspect to keep in mind. If you are slouching or bending to one side, more girth of the body will show, making you look overweight. Suck your stomach in gently to hide the bulge in your tummy. But remember not to overdo it, or else you will look like you have been asphyxiated.
Get The Perfect Lighting
Lighting is an important factor while taking pictures. Try taking pictures out in the open, with the flash on. Brightly lit backgrounds or locations can help do away with shadows which again contribute to the illusion of extra weight.
Angle Matters
Another aspect to keep in mind is the angle from which the picture is being clicked. If you choose for the camera person to click you from a lower angle, no one can save you from looking like Britney Spears in her troubled phase; whereas try a higher angle of the camera, and you might be looking at the pictures of a nymph.
Other Tricks
There are various photos editing software available on the net too, and you can try to fix your pics with those. But don’t forget the dazzling smile, which can make you look like a million bucks!
