Sometimes,to get noticed by these groups or individuals, kids do uncommon stuff which they may not do under normal circumstances. But if the pressure is negative i.e. is influencing your kid in a bad way then you should better take some steps.
Encourage Self Esteem and Self Image
It is very important for the child to learn about respecting others and himself, try to encourage a feeling to maintain the self image. Offer praise when they do something good and teach them about having a positive personality. Moreover, teach them about good and bad personalities.

It is true that children too need their space and they don’t like if someone intrudes in their area especially when friends are involved. However, it is very important that you try to gain as much knowledge about the friends of your child as possible. Try having conversation with them about their group of friends; also call some of them at home over the weekend.
Help Them Understand About Friendship
Talk to your child about what friendship is all about. Teach them how to differentiate between good and bad friends. You should also initiate talks on topics like- Good friends never put pressure or how good friends are always there for support.
Look For Signs
When your child is dealing with peer pressure then there are certain small signs or symptoms that you will notice. Like if your child enjoyed watching some TV show but suddenly stops, it may be because of the Peer Pressure as his group may not like such programs. If you find some similar symptoms then try to talk to them, tell them that it is great to have some individual characteristics as everybody is different.
Dealing With Drugs And Alcohol
Teenage may be a very difficult phase for parents too as children undergo many radical changes during these years. But the most destructive and negative thing your child can pick up include drugs and alcohol.
Make sure that they are not doing any of these and don’t take it for granted that your child will never do such a thing. However, if they have already picked these habits then you can tell them about the side effects but under serious conditions the child will need counselling.
Part Time Job
It has been seen that children who have a lot of time to think usually get influenced by the peer pressure so encourage your child to take up a part time job which will keep them busy.
Help Others
Being in the society, it also your social responsibility to inform other parents too. If you notice that other children are also getting negatively influenced by a certain group then contact other parents too.
