There can be a number of possible reasons for which children may suffer from allergic reactions. Often infants are seen to exhibit rashes on skin and may keep vomiting which are most often triggered due to reaction from milk.Toddlers and older kids may also suffer from food allergies due to reactions from consumption of peanuts, eggs, chocolates, wheat, corn, sea food and so on.

Other causes may include climatic or temperature fluctuations to which the child may not be able to adjust for which allergic reactions may occur. Allergic contact dermatitis cause almost immediate reaction in the form of red rashes which are likely to itch and are therefore recommended not to be scratched to prevent rise in severity. Eczema may affect infants and toddlers and it requires immediate medical attention. Hives often form in clusters accompanied with inflammation and redness.

Controlling Skin Allergies In Children

It is important to diagnose the allergy causing agents in children and avoid the same as far as possible. Blood tests and skin test done under medical recommendation and supervision can help to diagnose and hence identify the allergens that may be causing the skin allergies in the children. Antihistamine creams and ointments can be applied on the affected areas on doctor’s recommendation.

Prevention is better than cure and therefore using cosmetic products that are mild for children is recommended. Avoid using shampoos and soaps that may have harmful chemicals. Use baby creams and lotions that are mild and gentle on the skin of the children.
It’s important for your kids to maintain proper hygiene and keep the skin dry and clean.

Use an anti allergic mild talcum to be rubbed in the skin folds to avoid friction and rashes during hot humid conditions. Change bed linen and other upholstery frequently where children often come into contact to avoid breeding of insects that may cause skin allergies.
