An Effective Dr. Atkins Diet Plan

In order to lose weight, it is very essential to follow the right and effective weight loss program. One of the most effective and most commonly used diet plans is the Dr. Atkins Diet plan. One of the reasons for its success is that it leads to changes in lifestyle and in addition, to change the diet pattern.
The basic idea behind this plan is to reduce the amount of carbohydrates in the diet so that the fat stored in the body is used as a source of energy. This way, there will be burning of the extra layer of fats. Eat the right food and a person can see the desired results. This plan works in three phases.
The first phase is called the induction phase in which one can eat about 20 gms of carbohydrates daily. This phase leads to more weight loss as it is the initial phase. One should not starve; instead, eat three regular meals or, four or five small meals. Avoid carbohydrate-rich diet like bread, grains, pasta, starchy vegetables, cheese cream or butter. Strictly avoid the intake of caffeine and alcohol. Include a lot of fibrous foods as well as fluids in your diet. Drink around 8 glasses of water in a day.
In the next phase which is called the ongoing weight loss, the carbohydrate quantity is increased. This increases the variety of food items in the diet. Try and analyze what is the minimum carbohydrate quantity which you can take safely without weight loss.
The next phase is the Pre- Maintenance phase. This phase starts when one is about one – ten pounds of the goal weight. In this phase, carbohydrate quantity can be increased.
The last phase is the Lifetime Maintenance phase which involves maintaining the lost weight. If you again gain weight then you need to return to phase one and try reaching the last phase again. It is very essential to track what you eat in this diet plan and one should strictly follow it for best results.
