Applying Eyeliner
December 19, 2008
Eyeliners give volume to the eyes. They make your eye makeup complete. Eyeliner is applied to emphasize the shape of the eye and to accentuate the lash line. It adds depth and defines the eyes. The old cake-type eyeliner has now been replaced by liquid and pencil eyeliner. Eyeliner should be applied after the eye shadow and before the mascara.
There are two types of eyeliner – liquid and pencil.
Pencil eyeliner is the easiest form to use. Always sharpen the pencil before use, not only to draw a perfect line but also to keep it bacteria-free.
As the name suggests, liquid eyeliners have a fluid consistency and come with a brush attached to the cap. Application of liquid eyeliner is not as easy as pencil, but it will give a perfect finish if applied carefully. After applying this eyeliner you will have to wait till it dries before opening your eyes.
Pencil eyeliners are easy to use if they have a good consistency. Check the eyeliner by drawing a line on the back of the hand to ensure it applies smoothly.
Liquid eyeliner may not be as easy, but it gives a perfect look. Keep your hand steady while applying.
Permanent eyeliners are expensively created with cosmetic surgery.
Steps for applying eyeliner:
Before applying eyeliner, complete the eye shadow. Sit near a mirror with good light. Choose the color of the eyeliner according to your eye color. Try to draw a line as near to the upper eyelid as you can. Start from the inner corner of the eye and continue to the outer corner. If you want to line the bottom of the eye as well, then use a steady hand to draw a line by starting from the outer corner of the eye towards the inner corner. After applying the liner, apply your mascara.
Tips for eye makeup:
Eyeliner highlights the shape of the eye and makes the eyelashes look thicker. It gives a deepening look to the eyes. Use the eyeliner below the eyes only if you have big eyes, because its purpose is to make the eyes look smaller. If using pencil eyeliner, draw a thin line along the lashes to make the eyes look dark, then smudge the liner with your finger tip. It’s not recommended you apply eyeliner if your eyes are infected. Never apply thick eyeliner to small eyes. The color of the eyeliner should always match the color of the mascara.
