Basic Body Scrub Method

body-scrubTanned skin or dead skin cells can be effectively repaired using body scrub. Though, it is not recommended to exfoliate every day. Oily skin would need to be exfoliated once a week and dry skin say about twice a month. Make some homemade body scrubs that are more effective and easy.

Orange and Lemon Peel

Save the orange and lime or lemon skins the next time you eat the fruit. Dry them completely away from sunlight, till they become brittle. Powder and store in a jar. To make the scrub, take 2 tbsp dried peel powder, 2 tbsp wheat bran, ½ tbsp honey and little milk and make a coarse paste. Prior to your bath, rub this mixture all over your body. Work in circular motions. This helps remove dead skin. Take bath as usual.

Chickpea Powder scrub

This suits oily skin. To 4 tbsp chickpea powder, add ½ tbsp turmeric powder, few drops of milk and rose water. Mix well to form a thick paste. Scrub all over the body. As the paste dries up and cakes scrub in circular motions. This helps to remove dead skin.

Body Scrub using oats

Take half liter of buttermilk or beaten curds and add a cup of coarsely grounded oats. Mix well. Keep in refrigerator for two hours. Apply the paste all over the body from the neck working downwards over the arms, torso and the legs. After twenty minutes rinse with warm water to which a few drops of lemon juice has been added.

Tomato Wrap

Puree four tomatoes. Soak little rice for 30 minutes and grind coarsely. Mix the rice into the pureed tomatoes. Apply all over the body and leave for about 20 minutes. Wash off with warm water.

Scrub using lentils

Take half a cup of any lentil and soak for about half an hour. Grind coarsely after removing excess water. Add 1 tbsp of chickpea powder and blend into a smooth paste using little milk. Apply over the forehead, face and neck using circular movements. This body scrub is ideal for tender skin.
