Shampoos For Colored HairDaily hair care may not be your cup of tea, especially when you do not know which product you should buy and which will suit your hair. However, you don’t necessarily need to be a licensed cosmetologist in order to choose the most appropriate shampoo for your color treated hair.

Although there are a number of tempting hair care products available these days, but it may always leave you confused as to what shampoo is the best for you. However, there are a few suggestions that can help you make the most of your money and at the same time protect the luster, shine and color of your hair.

What To Look For?

When you color treat your hair, you end up stripping off the moisture and natural oils from your hair; thereby creating frizzes and damaging strands. Therefore, the shampoo you choose for your color treated hair should be the one that cleans dirt, pollutants, dandruff and oil from hair without stripping off the natural moisture.

The shampoo that you choose should also be able to keep the pH level of hair balanced. You can go for shampoos that contain a gentle sulfate such as sodium myreth.

Another problem with color treated hair is that after a few washes, the hair starts appearing lifeless and dull. One way to tackle this problem is using the shampoo that has citric acid in it. Any other acidic additive that is mild in nature will also help in smoothing out the surface of hair and making it appear shiny and soft.

Color treated hair is also prone to Flyaways and Frizzes. A shampoo that contains the chemical named Cocamidopropylbetaine can help. Cocamidopropylbetaine protects colored, brittle and dry hair from static electricity by acting as a humectant.

What To Avoid?

Sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate are two ingredients in shampoos that those with colored hair must avoid using. Those with colored hair must also refrain from using shampoos that contain artificial fragrances as they do not help in cleaning the hair and in certain cases these fragrances may also cause allergic reactions.
