Building Self Confidence
We all admire and secretly envy the power and confidence that some people exude. But is it really so difficult to emulate these examples? Probably not.
So here are 6 simple tricks that will help you boost your confidence and enhance your self image.
Dress smartly. One of the easiest ways to feel good about yourself is to know that you are smart looking and presentable. Grooming well does wonders to your self confidence.
Now lets be clear that dressing smartly does not mean you have to get a 1000$ suit or dress. You can go for anything casual that you feel looks good on you.
Think positive. Now I know that is easier said than done. But there are techniques in which you can redirect your negative thoughts and make them positive. When thoughts like, ‘I can’t do this’ come to your mind play this simple game.
Imagine the thought to be a mosquito you want to get rid of. Now focus completely on squatting it (mentally of course) and once you are done, you will start feeling positive. Sounds childish, but trust me, it works.
Focus on things you are good at. We are all born with talents. But sadly, we choose to ignore them most of the times. Think of all the things you were ever good at and start practising them again. It could be music, athletics, accounting, anything. The knowledge of being talented at something will greatly boost your self confidence.
Be generous and helpful. Cliché, yes. But also effective. Helping others can inspire self confidence like nothing else. Knowing that you have something that others look up to is a marvelous way of building self confidence and enhancing your self image.
Seek knowledge. A lot of times, lack of confidence stems from insecurities about being ignorant of things. Feeling inadequately informed of things is a blow to your self image.
Seek knowledge of the things you feel you are less informed about. And with the internet facilities available today, gaining knowledge on almost any subject should not be a daunting task.
Speak slowly and powerfully. Lack of confidence can have you mumbling, or running over your own words. Or is it the other way round? Speaking slowly and with authority helps you to feel confident. The sound of your speech itself will work as a stimulant for boosting self confidence.
