Causes of Diabetes
More than 20 million people in United States are affected by diabetes. Most of them become blind or impotent or their nerves get damaged and they lead very miserable lives.

Obesity:
It is one of the biggest causes of diabetes. People who are obese are at high risk of developing diabetes. Obesity or being overweight also cause various other health problems such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases etc. Hence you should control your weight and get rid of obesity to prevent yourself from these dreadful diseases.
Lack of Exercise:
People who do sedentary jobs for long hours or people who do not get time to exercise are vulnerable to develop diabetes. Calories in their bodies are not used which gives result to diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes. Therefore you must involve yourself in physical activities such as swimming, jogging, dancing, running, playing outdoor games so that your extra calories are burnt. You should also exercise daily.
Unhealthy Foods:
People who consume unhealthy foods develop type 2 diabetes. Oily foods, junk foods, fatty foods, sugary foods etc fall into the category of unhealthy foods. Such foods cause accumulation of unwanted fats into your body and also provide extra calories.
Excess accumulation of fats and extra calories increase your bad cholesterol and cause diabetes. Hence you should avoid unhealthy foods and eat healthy foods such as whole grains, fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables etc.
Pregnancy:
In most women diabetes develop due to pregnancy which is known as gestational diabetes. But such kind of diabetes may be temporary and may go after your delivery and proper care.
Genetic Factor:
Some people also develop type 1 diabetes from their parents. In type 1 diabetes your pancreas stop producing insulin due to which sugar level in your system raises and affects your body.
Diseases:
There are various diseases such as liver disease, hyperthyroidism and PCOS which affect your pancreas and eventually your pancreas are unable to produce insulin.You need to keep your liver healthy if you want to prevent diabetes.
