Choosing Eyeshadow
March 19, 2009
Putting on shadow is about more than just slapping some color onto your eyelids. The way you use your eye shadow and the color you choose can change the way your entire face looks. By just making a few simple changes in your eye shadow you can make small eyes appear large. Close set eyes look wide apart, boring eyes look sexy, the list goes on and on.
Pick a Type of Eye shadow
The first thing you need to consider when you are purchasing eye shadow is that there are several different types of eye shadows. There are liquid eye shadows, powder eye shadows and eye shadow pencils. A person that is truly devoted to making their eyes look perfect knows that there are benefits to owning all three types.
Eye shadow pencils are a really great invention. Before we had eye shadow pencils it was difficult, and sometime impossible to get eye shadow in the crease of your eyelid. The other nice thing about eye shadow pencils is that they are really easy to keep tucked inside of your purse. If you prefer to use eye shadow instead of eyeliner to accent your eye makeup the eye shadow pencil is a good choice.
You will want to use liquid eyeliner when you are looking for an eye shadow that makes your eyes look like they are dancing. Even the most sedate liquid eyeliner has a shimmering quality that can be used to make your eyes look larger and more luminous. The best thing about liquid eyeliner is that it isn’t just for your eyes. Depending on the color, you can use the liquid eye shadow as a blush and to highlight other facial features.
The final, and most commonly used eye shadow, is the powder. This versatile eye shadow makes an excellent eye makeup for day makeup. You can experiment with combining different colors of powdered eye shadow to see what different effects you can create with shading and smudging.
Picking the Perfect Color
If you think that the color of you eye shadow makes a difference to your eyes and appearance, you are absolutely right. That is why it is so important that you choose just the right eye shadow the next time you are at the drugstore picking out cosmetics. Make sure that you choose a color of eye shadow that matches your complexion and skin tone. It is best to start with one or two natural shades of eye shadow and than you can start adding more extravagant colors.
