Common Scalp Diseases
September 4, 2009
Everyday many people walk into a salon with the problem of hair fall and other hair related problems. Many tend to accuse the shampoos they use, but in reality, the shampoo can be innocent.
Many times we do not realize that we have a scalp condition, possible a severe one. Since the scalp is neglected, thus we often fail to identify the main cause of hair fall. Like our body, the scalp can also have diseases. The two common scalp diseases are seborrhea dermatitis and psoriasis.
Seborrhea dermatitis is one of the most common scalp conditions. You must be wondering what that is. It is a form of dandruff. This will cause scales that are greasy; your scalp can be itchy and often red as well. This condition can occur due to hormonal change or any kind of infection on the scalp. If there is an infection then there is a possibility that it is caused by any kind of fungus. In this case, the flakes that occur on the scalp are oily.
Psoriasis is slightly different from any other scalp condition. In this case, the scalp will turn red, the scalp will be really itchy, and the flakes are dry. The scalp has a thick layer of scales.
Here it should be mentioned that this is a problematic scalp condition and there is no specific solution for this. But the good thing is it can be treated. Doctors are yet to find the main cause of this scalp condition. Some argue that it runs in the family, which means if you have this disease then there is a big possibility that your kins might have this problem.
One thing about Psoriasis is it is triggered by stress and anxiety. So to avoid this problem, it is important that you stay relaxed and stress free. At the same time, try not to expose your scalp to the sun. It is better to wear a cap or carry an umbrella when you go out.
Here it should be mentioned that none of these scalp conditions are contagious. So there is nothing to worry about, none of your friends or family members will catch this problem through you. To avoid such problems, keep your scalp clean and if you think you are facing some problems, then consult a doctor.

Beware of HIGHLY contagious hairloss disease now rampant. It starts with scaly scalp and then becomes excessively oily scalp with infected sebum excreted destroying follicles. It is often mis-diagnosed as Seborrhea. But it is not. Seborrhea is not contagious. It infects all follicles of the body. Hair grows in thinner and thinner until is doesn’t grow in at all. MANY MOVIE STARS ARE NOW AFFLICTED, probably due to the sharing of combs and make-up brushes. I am a BARBER.
