Couch Potato Workouts
March 13, 2009
Some do not get the time to hit the gym. However, you should not allow that to lower your fitness level. You can do many exercises right in your home. The article presents a few of these home exercises that should help you out.
Do some couch squats
The couch will not be able to support your legs well and hence they will get their workout. Keep your feet a little bit wider than your shoulders and stand. Then squat. Go as down low as you can. Hold it and rise again. Repeat it about 10 times.
This will make your hamstrings, glutes and quads stronger and it will also increase the awareness level of your body to position as well as balance.
Do the couch leg raises
Again, the soft couch will not support your legs, making them work harder. Sit on the couch’s very edge. Then shift slightly back to keep your back horizontal. Now try to raise your legs and lower them. Do it about six or eight times. You will not be able to get your legs to come up all the way initially. However, practise and you will be able to do it.
This will increase your hip flexors as well as your abdominal muscles.
Couch squat jumps work great
These will build up your leg power. Stand on the couch keeping the toes near the edge. Now, bend your knee to jump high. Land with your legs bent. Now jump off the floor. Do this whole process ten times.
Tricep dips
These will help to strengthen the muscles of your back arms. Keep your hands on the couch edge so that your body’s front side is facing away. Now straighten your elbows and lower slowly your body, your butt will move nearer to the floor. Do some 15 or 20 dips. Do this exercise using the muscles of your arms rather than your quads.
The couch crunch
Along with all these exercises, you should also include cardio exercises, which will work to get rid of the extra fat and help to show the underlying muscles. When the program breaks for a commercial, do some jumping jacks or a few walking lunges or even climbing stairs will do.
Therefore, do not allow being at home become your reason to be unhealthy or gain fat.
