Easy Ways To Eat Fruits
May 22, 2009
For a long time now we have been informed about the ill effects of obesity. Despite the direct relationship between health and food, we continue to overlook our diet, mainly because of our current lifestyle.
Here are a few ways to increase the amount of healthy foods in our daily diet.
Smoothies
When they consist entirely of fruit and don’t include additional sugar, smoothies are a very good alternative to natural fruits. They may be purchased from the market like any other drink. You can also choose from vegetable smoothies.
It is healthier to make your own smoothies at home. If you are smart enough to multitask in the kitchen, it won’t take up too much of your time. Pick five of your favorite fruits, whether kiwis, grapes, apples or strawberries. The recipe is very simple.
Crush a few oranges or any other juicy fruit of your choice. To this fruit juice, add a few pieces of the four other fruits and churn it into a mixture. This can serve as a very healthy breakfast or you can drink it after your workout session.
Adding whey protein or spirulina powder to this smoothie is great. Consider the advantages of a well prepared smoothie. Using a wide variety of fruits gives you a wide variety of vitamins, nutrients and fiber.
You can also prepare a vegetable smoothie. If using packed or stored tomato juice, be sure to check whether it has added sugar or salt. It is better to prepare tomato juice at home and then freeze it to avoid artificial preservatives and colors.
Incorporate Vegetables Into Your Snacks
Try to include a healthy snack with your mid morning coffee break. Try incorporating some healthy vegetable salads as snacks. Raw carrots, celery and cucumber are filling and help you avoid the energy drop associated with eating a high sugar snack.
While these salads may not be very tempting in the beginning, they can become addictive after a period of time. Adopt this healthy practice and you will begin to miss them on the days you don’t have them. To add zing, add a bit of lemon or mix in a bit of yogurt.
