February 3, 2010
During summer there are many reasons which can affect the functioning of the eyes and cause a vision disorder. During summer the sun reflects light with intense heat and the weather remains dry mostly.
Moreover summer vacations are all about sun bathing and swimming, so all this can lead to vision problem including the effect of UV rays from sun on the cataracts. The general misperception about the functioning of cataracts among the people is that they are related to aging.
Similarly keratitis and conjunctivitis are also caused by the reflected rays from water or any other medium. Itching and redness in the eyes along with water discharge from eyes and nose are the general symptoms of conjunctivitis. If there is pain in eyes or inflammation, then this can be keratitis and it is recommended to consult the eye specialist without any delay to avoid any complexity.
There are many other causes for these problems other than the UV rays which include mostly hygienic issues. So here are some precautions which can help you avoid any type of eye vision problems.
1. Never try to look directly towards sun light and use good quality lenses and sun glasses to minimize the influence of sun rays on eyes.
2. Do not buy the sun glasses just because they look perfect on your face, prefer buying them in green, grey or brown color and avoid dark color sun glasses.
3. Do not sit most of the time in an air conditioned environment as it keeps the eye surface dry which is not good for eyes.
4. Keep on washing your eyes with regular intervals to avoid unhygienic issues and dryness.
5. Keep on blinking eyes to help continue natural moisture influence.
6. Never go for swimming without goggles and keep on blinking eyes to avoid the irritation which can be caused by the chlorinated water of the swimming pool.
7. Try to avoid dust and contact with pollens in the summer; especially as it may cause irritation which ends up in vision problems and use recommended eye drops to avoid irritation getting worse.
These are some precautions which can keep your eyes healthy and naturally sparkling during the long outdoor activities. So stay healthy and enjoy the summer season.
