Effective Herbal Treatment Of Arthritis
Arthritis in medical terms is the inflammation of the joints. It is an auto immune disease and in most cases it’s chronic. Arthritis is of two types-osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. In osteoporosis there is degeneration of the cartilage hence resulting in pain and less movement of joints.
In rheumatoid arthritis, the joints get inflamed leading to stiffness of the joints, swelling, pain and loss of proper functioning of the joints. Ayurveda explains that the cause of arthritis is release of a specific toxin-ama which remains in the joints and act as foreign substance. These foreign substances stimulate the immune system and causes inflammation of the joints. There are several conventional medicines available for treatment of arthritis but these days’ herbal treatments are being more preferred because of its fewer side effects.
Alfafa
The seeds of the alfafa herb have been found to be very effective in treating arthritis. It has a lot of minerals which provide nutrition. Most of the people do not like to take alfafa in the form of powder; they prefer taking it in tea. Few seeds of alfafa are added to the tea. It has been found that the seeds have reduced the pain and stiffness in joints.
Ginger
Ginger is also used to ease the pain in arthritis. Research showed that the roots of ginger stops or slows down the release of hormones like prostaglandins and leukotriene, which are also the cause of inflammation.
Bromelain
It is an enzyme which is present in pineapple. It helps to reduce the pain in arthritis by breaking the formation of antigen antibody complex that are formed during arthritis. It also helps to digest fibrin which is present in arthritic conditions.

Shallaki
It is popularly known as boswellia and found a lot in India. It is used very often by ayurvedic physician to treat arthritis because it has good anti-inflammatory action. Boswellia is an herb obtained when the bark of a gum tree is peeled. Another advantage of shallaki is it reduces the morning stiffness experienced in rheumatoid arthritis.
Aswagandha
It is also known as whithania somnifera. This herb is also found a lot in Asia and belongs to the family of potato. The roots of this plant have anti-inflammatory properties and are used in arthritis and several immune dysfunctions. The root of this plant also has an active named whitaferin which helps to reduce stress.
Cayenne
It belongs to the family of capsicum and is used in arthritis. Cayenne is used to relieve the pain during arthritis. The chemical component associated with cayenne is casaicin. This herb can also be rubbed directly on the skin. It will help relieve the pain. Several ointments containing capsaicin is available in the market.
Arthcare
Arthcare oil and capsules help to reduce the pain, strengthen the bones and also improve the movement of joints. This herb is very useful because it has strong anti-inflammatory action.
