Expecting Second Labour
December 10, 2008
After so much of planning and thinking one goes in for the second baby knowing that managing two babies will be really difficult. With the phobia or the delivery and the guilt of ignoring the first child one, really moves ahead with looking forward for the second wonder of one’s life.
It is really difficult to deliver a baby and deliver a second baby is mentally more difficult than the first one because one has already experienced how horrifying the process can be. Biologically speaking the second delivery is comparatively easy because the body has gone through the procedure once making the second birth faster and easier. Gynecologist, Patrick O’Brien also supports the view that second labour is comparatively less stressful for the body. All the muscles of the body have been stretched during the first delivery so this really helps to make the second labour less painful and quicker. It is advised that you should ask your gynecologist to wait before inducing.
Whatever are the predictions or assurance that the second labour is faster and easier the phobia of a mother cannot be lessened. Planning a second baby, carrying it in the stomach and taking care of the first one can be very hectic for her. A lot of support and assurance should be offered to a mother for a healthy second delivery. If you had a normal delivery first time and gynecologist have predicted a caesarean in the second delivery then you will have all together a new experience but if you are expecting a normal delivery second time also then biologically things will be really easy and quick.
Don’t let tension and fear overcome the excitement of the second baby. No doubt the responsibility level will increase with the second baby but the love and care which the two babies will share will make you feel very content and satisfied. So, keep aside all your apprehensions and phobias and go in for the delivery happily. With the support of your gynecologist you can overcome all the difficulties and before going in for the labour clear all your doubts.
