Many types of hair removers are available in the market. They are in the form of cream, lotions, gel. They are available in the razor form and even as electronic hair removers. A Brazilian (bikini) wax is an innovation of a group of sisters who were actually born in Brazil. The procedure is simple and does not involve any razor, etc. The procedure of use of Brazilian wax is briefly described here.
The hair is trimmed to the correct length so that it is properly grabbed by the wax. Normally hair length should be ¼ inch for the wax to grab it.
Talcum powder:
The person has to lie on a clean paper. Sometimes hot wax may stick to the skin and it would cause pain. To avoid this, talcum powder is liberally sprinkled on the body wherever wax is applied.
Apply wax:
Wax is prepared in a bowl. The hot wax is applied on the body with a wooden stick. A cloth is spread over the wax and it is pressed firmly. By this process the wax sticks to the cloth along with the hair. After wax cools, the cloth is removed in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Thereby the hair is removed from the root.
After removing the hair:
If there are any left over hair, the technician would tweeze it. Thereafter the technician would apply some cream or lotion to soothe the pain. This will prevent infection and also reduce the redness of the skin.
Is it painful?
Yes, it is painful in the first waxing. Subsequently the pain would reduce. To reduce the pain, the person may prefer thicker waxing. Sometimes the technician may advise applying local anesthesia to prevent pain. If the pain is too much, the person may prefer to get the waxing done for specific regions instead of applying for the whole body. There are instances where the person has been hospitalized for infection, particularly in the pubic area.
