First Step
Select your product with care. Most products are quite safe for use by the consumer. However, there are some that cause issues such as discoloring of your clothes, an unnatural appearance, etc if the application is done incorrectly. Initially you should do a thorough research on available products. Try to source something easy to apply and quick to dry. You can easily read some online reviews on such products.
Second Step
Don’t rush yourself. Allow yourself adequate time to make preparation of the technique for your sunless tanning process. Sometimes depending on the cream you choose to use it could take several months to achieve the look you are after. It must be said that your technique is the most crucial aspect of achieving your perfect sunless tan.
By any chance if your application technique is faulty, you could find yourself sporting spots, blotches, or even streaks, rather than the tan you so much desire. Your planning should include using the liquids at least a month prior to the event you are preparing for. This way any issues can be worked out since you have ample time.
Third Step
As with regular tanning, with sunless tanning too you can over do it. After you find you have achieved a certain level of colour, you could reduce applications say for instance from every other day to twice every week. If you find you have over done it a trifle you can exfoliate to reduce the colour. Using a soft cloth, wash away any excess colour.
Fourth Step
Try not to use tans that look unnatural. During the process of application of the tanning lotion, frequently wash your hands. An-all over tan will take some time to accomplish. You should take care of your fingers and palms that will be exposed most. Your cuticles and palms should not have as much tanning as the other parts of your body.
Remind yourself of how a natural tan looks. The cuticles and palms will certainly be lighter tanned. Or it will end up looking like furniture stain. Go easy also on elbows, ankles, and knees.
