Hair Loss In Women
August 27, 2009
For ages people believed that, men are more prone to hair loss since they have to go out of the house more often then women. That time is long gone and women have to go out to work like men.
But whether they go out or stay at home, both men and women are prone to hair loss. Most of us blame the pollution, water, and the shampoo for this problem. But there are other factors involved in this matter. So what are the other factors? Let us have a look.
From a medical point of view, there are two major reasons why people suffer from hair loss. One is an imbalance of thyroid and imbalance of hormone. Thyroid glands are a complicated organ, and often times it is difficult to identify the problem within the gland.
Different glands in the body produce different types of hormones. And if there is an imbalance in the hormone production then one may face severe hair loss. In this case, the hormone that is responsible for this condition is called testosterone. Many doctors prescribe contraceptive pills for this condition.
Unfortunately, that is not the proper cure as the medicine hardly works for this problem. The only cure for this problem is to re-regulate the production of the hormone. This can be accomplished by following a good diet and some changes in the lifestyle. In this case, acupuncture can be helpful.
Menopause can change the level of testosterone in the body, which can lead to hair problems. In this case, women should consult a doctor and even take medication. Here it should be mentioned that many specialists do not prefer any hormone therapy. So do not take any medication without consulting a doctor, because there might be an alternative to medication.
It should also be mentioned that hormones are not the only factor why women face this problem. This is also a hereditary problem. If someone in the family has a hair loss problem, then there is a possibility that the next generation may face the same problem as well. But there is nothing to worry about; with some medical help, this problem can be cured.
