Hair Removal Techniques For Armpits

By on November 14, 2011

The armpit area has drawn a lot of attention with the kind of clothes and outfits’ women are adorning these days. Dark and smelly underarms are a huge turn off to say the least.  Most women have a phenomenal growth of underarm hair, which looks unbecoming and ugly especially when one is wearing sleeveless tops.

While the superficial hair is removed with the help of waxing or shaving, the hair is so coarse and rough that it leaves an ugly shadow or a stubble in the under arm area. This can make the under arms look unsightly and dark.

Some Hair Removal Techniques For Armpits

Shaving

When you are shaving, aim for a close shave. Try to shave your under arm hair twice a day with a new and sharp razor that is changed frequently. The problem of an ugly under arm shadow can be nipped in the bud with close and frequent shaving.

Make sure you moisturize the area after shaving otherwise the skin will become excessively dry. While this technique is effective, some women have very rough and coarse under arm hair, which can still leave a light shadow or stubble on the surface of the armpit.

Waxing

Waxing is one of the better alternatives to armpit hair removal. The reason for this is that the hair is pulled out by the root, which means you will not be seeing a shadow for at least a couple of weeks.

The hair growth over a period of time becomes sparse thus reducing the appearance of a shadow. While the procedure is very painful, make sure you get it done at a professional salon under the guidance of an expert assistant.

Bleaching

For those who cannot tolerate the pain from waxing, bleaching is a good idea. Shave your underarms with a normal razor and apply a skin bleaching cream on the surface of the underarm.

Skin Bleaching Procedures

This will not only reduce skin darkening but will also lighten the appearance of the shadow hair that is visible. This will make them invisible or less apparent. The only glitch is that you will have to use bleach repeatedly to get the desired results.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a permanent hair removal technique that can permanently get rid of under arm hair. This is by far the best treatment approaches for women who have very rough, coarse and dark hair.

Go to a professional cosmetologist who will rub a laser wand up and down the armpit. The laser beam burns and destroys all the hair follicles thus preventing new hair from growing out. Yu will need at least 3-4 sittings for permanent results.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is another procedure for hair removal. It is better suited on women who have light coloured under arm hair. It is more expensive and time consuming than laser hair removal techniques.

Hair Removal Creams

Hair removal creams are another option and work by application of the cream on the under arm area. This then gets rid of the superficial hair. This is not a very highly recommended option as creams contain harsh chemicals and can darken the skin over a period of time. Consider and restrict its use only as a onetime procedure.
