Head Massage In India
A head massage in India involves massaging the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face. It also helps to relieve many kinds of aches and pains as well as stress, helps better growth of hair, makes the skin fresh and also gives a relaxed and comfortable feeling.
Special oils are used in a Indian head massage, which help the hair to grow better. Apart from all this, a head massage helps blood circulation in the body, reduces tension, loosens the dead cells present in the skin and makes the hair less greasy. It helps to reduce anxiety and rejuvenates a person who is mentally tired and depressed and also increases the concentration and alertness levels.
A person who has just finished having a head massage should take rest for at least 20 minutes. A head massage should be taken before any kind of hair treatment like hair dying, coloring or straightening or if there is any infection present on the head or any other kind of scratches or abrasions.
There are different ways of performing a head massage in India. Some of them are:
Relaxing movement – The left hand should be placed below the chin and the right hand at the base of the skull. The head should then be gently rotated in the clockwise and anticlockwise direction and this process should be repeated three times.
Sliding and rotating movement – The finger tips should be placed at the back of the head. The fingers should slide and rotate while pressing the head. This process should be repeated six times.
Forehead movement – The left hand should be placed at the back of the head and the thumb and fingers of the right hand should be placed on the forehead. The left hand should be moved gently while pressing the fingers in the front on the fore head. This should be repeated five times.
Head movement – The palms of your hand should be placed over the ears and rotated periodically. The palms should then be placed at the front and back of the head and the same rotator motion should be repeated at least six times.
Hairline and head movement – The fingers of the both the hands should be kept on the hairline. Lift and rotate the hairline while massaging the front and back of the head.
Ear Movement – The left hand should be placed on the forehead and the base of the right hand should be placed below the right ear. The right hand should massage the area below the left ear in circular movements. This should be repeated four times.
Neck Movement – The left hand should be placed on the forehead and the right hand should massage the area around the base of the neck and the shoulder blades and this process should be repeated twice.
Shoulder and spine movement – Place the hands firmly on the shoulders and move them in rotation. Slowly move your hands towards the neck and the spine using pressure from the thumbs in a circular manner.
The head massage helps us to relax be releasing all the tension. It also helps to relieve strain in the eyes. The massage lasts between thirty and forty – five minutes and gives a calm and soothing feeling when it reduces the tightness around the neck and the shoulders and is also an excellent cure for headache.
The special oils used in this massage are good for hair growth and increasing blood circulation which provides more oxygen to the brain thereby improving the concentration skills and energy levels.
