Herbs That Will Ease Hot Flashes

hot-flashesMost women enter menopause around the age of fifty. When menopause occurs in a woman’s body she experiences many hormonal changes.

As a result of the hormonal changes, a woman can go through many side effects and experience great discomfort and irritability.

One side effect of menopause is hot flashes. When a woman gets hot flashes, she all of a sudden feels a wave of heat in her body even if she is in a cool environment. She may begin to sweat from the hot flashes.

Women may experience some relief if they get a prescription from their doctor. But some women do not want to take medication. These women can try herbal supplements to ease the discomfort of hot flashes and night sweats while they are going through menopause.

Why do women get hot flashes?  And is there an end in sight?

As previously discussed, most women experience hot flashes or night sweats when they are around fifty years of age. This is when their bodies go through menopause. Some women may even experience menopause while they are still in their thirties.

The most common menopausal symptoms are changes in mood, lack of lubrication from the vagina, exhaustion, depression, memory complications and water weight gain. These problems occur because when a woman is going through menopause her hormones become unbalanced. But there are ways to treat these problems. By taking any of the herbal supplements discussed below, a woman can ease her menopausal symptoms.

Black Cohosh and Damiana

Women can purchase these herbal supplements at the drugstore. Black Cohosh is widely used by women going through menopause because it helps rebalance the hormones. Damiana can also help women by helping their vagina secrete more lubrication. Before a woman begins any treatment plan, she should speak with her doctor first. Even herbal remedies may have slight side effects.

Women going through menopause need to pay attention to their health. It is important that they begin an exercise program that includes some form of cardio exercise for about thirty minutes a day. Menopausal women should also increase the amount of green vegetables that they eat and make sure that they get extra zinc.
