Homemade Face Paint

Children love having birthday parties and they love having fun even more. Not only do they love circuses and clowns, but they go crazy over face paint! Face paint is fun, easy to make, and great for many forms of entertainment. You can paint certain themes on the children, let the children paint the children, or play games on the children’s faces.
The recipes will show you just how easy it can be to make face paint from home. Use them on young children, toddlers, or even young teens. Don’t forget, the adults should join in too; it’s just a little paint. Have some fun, and give the kids something to remember!

Recipe #1
Ingredients:
• 2 teaspoons (tsp) white vegetable shortening
• 1 tsp all purpose white flour
• Food coloring
• ½ tsp cornstarch
• cold cream
• 3-4 drops glycerin
Directions:
• Form a paste by mixing the flour, corn starch and shortening
• After adding the glycerin. stir the mixture again until the paste is smooth, soft and spreadable
• Add food coloring to the mixture one drop at a time. Continue adding slowly until you achieve the color you wish to have.
• Now it is important to remember that for easy removal later, spread a bit of cold cream on the face before adding face paint.
• Once you have finished mixing the ingredients, you can simply paint the face. You can use a cotton swab, mini art brushes, or even cotton balls for big circles or rosy cheeks like a circus clown.
Recipe #2
Ingredients:
• ½ tsp water
• ½ tsp cream
• Food color: one color or a variety
Directions:
• Mix the cream and the cornstarch until blended together very well
• Stir gently while adding the water
• Add the food coloring to make the desired final color
Recipe #3
Ingredients:
• 1 tsp flour
• Small amount of Vaseline
• 5 tsp cornstarch
• Variety of food coloring
Mix flour, Vaseline and cornstarch together in a bowl. You can stir with a whisk, a tablespoon or even a serving spoon. Once the mixture is blended, slowly add the various food coloring colors until the desired color is achieved.
To remove face coloring in all recipes use warm water and soap.
There you have it! A few simple and easy home recipes for face paint. Before applying any paint, ensure the child’s face is clean. It is also recommended to wash your hands in between each child you paint, as well as to let one paint layer dry before adding the next layer.
