Hot Fashion With Medieval Braided Hairstyles
Fashion styles, whether it be for clothes or hairstyle, repeats itself in cycles. If you have noticed the world of fashion very closely, then you will see that most of the fashion statements followed today have been picked up from older days.
Hairstyles too have got inspired from medieval period. In the older period, fashion was based on religious customs. Moreover, indulging in any kind of vanity was considered a sin and as such fashion was more concerned about modesty in hair and clothes fashion.
Loose hair was considered as a negative feature.Ladies of good houses and cultures were expected to keep their hairs tugged and tied. This is how braids got popular and soon ladies were finding ways to further improvise their braids into improved styles.
Here Are Some Medieval Braided Hairstyles
Side Braids
In this kind of a hairstyle, the hair is partitioned into two sections on either side.A ribbon is used to hold the top of the partitions into tight pony like styles. Each portion of the section is further separated into two portions.
The partitions are now braided into a three strand braid, as the length of the ribbon serves as the third strand. The braids were decorated with flowers and other accessories. Women also used hats for styling their hairstyle further.
Braided Side Buns
In this hairstyle, the hair gets split into two portions. Each portion get further divided into two separate portions which are then pinned with a ribbon. These portions get braided into a three-strand braid as the ribbon serves as the third strand of the braid.
The braids once made, get rolled and looped up into buns. The hair ends are slipped under the buns. The buns on either side of the braid were tightened with pins and women used to accessorize it with flowers and hair ornaments.
Braided Crown
This kind of a hairstyle requires long hairs for styling. No partitioning of hairs is required. The hair style is formed as a single three strand braid. Braiding starts from the top of the head and gradually moves downward. At the end, the hair gets pinned and rolled up to form a bun at the center of the head.
The bun that is usually located at the crown, is decorated with beads and other accessories. Flowers were also used to decorate them. Although this hairstyle is especially meant for long hairs but women with short hairs could also make buns at the crown of the head.A ribbon is used to tie the short hair at the crown and then a three braided style is followed.
In case of very short hairs, artificial hair strands are added along with the ribbon and braided down with the natural hair. Pinning and rolling thebraided hair to the crown gives the desired look.
Medieval braided hairstyles have made a comeback in today’s fashion scenario. The simplicity of thehairstyles help to accentuate the facial feature of a woman while making her look classy and elegant in every way.
