In makeup, the most sensitive thing is applying foundation. This is because if it is not done well, you will give yourself a rather bad look. That is why you must understand the best way to apply foundation to suit you.
There is a right way to apply foundation. It should make your skin look natural and not odd. Foundation applied properly will hide the spots, the roughness, and the blemishes on the skin.
The things you have to take into consideration before applying foundation are the type and color of your skin. This should guide you to select the right foundation for your skin.
Read on for a discussion of the various types of foundation.
Liquid foundations
This is the suitable foundation for skin types of all kind. Liquid foundations are able to cover the whole area where they are applied, and therefore will give you the most natural look. They are quite easy to apply. There are two types: water based and oil based foundations.
Cream foundations
This type of foundation is not a very good choice. This is because it dries very quickly, thus making blending very difficult. They have a rather extensive coverage. They also have a moisturizing effect. They are therefore only good for normal or dry skin.
Compact foundations
For those with oily skin, this is the best type of foundation. Its coverage is lighter when applied with a dry sponge. When applied with a wet sponge, it gives a heavier coverage.
Dual active powder foundations
Women who are busy and have less time for makeup because of work schedules and deadlines will find this type of foundation suitable. It provides both the foundation and the powder as one application. It also gives a very good coverage.
Tinted moisturizer
This is best for all skin types. It gives a very nice glow to the skin and helps in moisturizing dry skin. When exposed to the sun it becomes drier. This type of moisturizer comes with SPF protection.
You have to apply the foundation carefully on one side first. Blend it with a makeup sponge from the top to bottom of your face for a smooth finish. Then do the same for the other side. Blending is very important so take care of the various sections of your face such as the jaw line, the hair line, the corners, and the area under the eyes. After that, apply the powder gently to set the foundation.
