How To Apply Make Up In Summer
The summer months are not only hot and sultry but can also cause your make up to run, lipstick to smudge and ruin your foundation if you are not careful. The application of make up in summer takes centre stage especially if you do not want to end up looking ghastly.
Applying makeup in summer should be subtle, yet quirky and fun. It should also make you feel as comfortable as putting on your sunglasses. So here are some great summer make up tips to keep you looking drop dead gorgeous all year long.
Tips To Apply Make Up In Summer
Make sure you apply a primer on your face in the summer especially if you are planning to apply heavy makeup. A primer acts as a good base and prevents your makeup from fading or smudging. It also keeps you looking fresh throughout the day.
Use Light Make Up
Summer is not the best time to look like a made up doll. Just as you go easy on the clothes and tend to wear less during summers, the same rule should also apply towards make up. Try tinted moisturizers in lieu of foundations.
Use matte shades of lipstick rather than sticky lip-glosses, which smudge. Stick to powder based make up which makes your skin look radiant. Liberally use compact all day long, as it will prevent your make up from sweating and running.
Use bronzers in the summer months. This is by far the best time to apply bronzer for that perfect tanned look. Just go slow on the bronzer and apply just a light dusting of bronzer on temples, nose, chin and cheeks. The idea is to go light and not look overly made up.
Add Colour To Your Make Up
Just like the summer signifies vivacity, colour and the bright sun, so should your make up. Use brighter and peppier colours in eye shadows and eyeliners. If you have the confidence, go in for bright green and blue eye shadows that are perfect for the summer months. The golden rule is that you should keep the rest of your make up simple, especially with a bright eye shadow.
Tissues and blotting papers can be lifesavers especially when you have an important presentation coming up. A shiny t-zone is uncool to say the least. So take out your tissue and gently dab on sweat and running make up. Touch up your make up if necessary.
Tinted Lip Balms
Now is not the time to wear heavy, moisturizing lipsticks and lip-glosses. Since the sun takes a toll on the skin of the lips, now is the perfect time to splurge on exotic, tinted lip balms, which come with just a hint of colour to give you that perfect pout. Tinted lip balms will also protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun and keep your lips moisturized and supple.
Cleanse, Tone And Moisturize
If you want your make up to look nice, make sure your skin is scrupulously clean. Use a good quality face wash, cleanser and toner to keep your skin radiant and squeaky-clean. A glowing complexion will not need much make up at all.
