How To Bake An Apple Pie

The word ‘apple pie’ always brings water into mouth. The tradition of baking apple pies on festivals is very common. It can be prepared in many ways. Let’s learn the simplest apple pie recipe and try to impress others.
Ingredients and their quantities:
a) Apples -6
b) Flour -2 ¼ cups
c) Salt- 1 ¼ teaspoon
d) Butter – ½ cup
e) Cold vegetable shortening-5 tablespoons
f) Water (ice-cold) – 8 tablespoon
g) Lemon juice-2tablespoon
h) White sugar- 1/3 tablespoon
i) Brown sugar- 1/3 tablespoon
j) Cinnamon Powder- ½ tablespoon
k) Egg- 1
Procedure:
The dough:
1) The first step is to add butter and salt into flour and mix it with vegetable shortening.
2) Now with the help of hand blender, blend the flour mixture.
3) While blending the flour mixture, pour ice-cold water into it.
4) Knead flour to make a dough ball.
5) Divide this big dough ball into two halves.
6) Take a plastic sheet. Warp one ½ dough ball and keep it in the refrigerator.
7) After 30 minutes take out the dough from refrigerator and flatten it. Use a rolling pin for this and give a circular shape to the dough.
Now wrap this flattened dough around rolling pin.
9) Now unwrap the dough and place it into the pie-pan.
10) Keep pie-pan into refrigerator for 15minutes.
The filling:
1) Peel the apples and slice them.
2) Mix the apple pieces, white sugar and brown sugar.
3) To this mixture add cinnamon, lemon juice, salt and flour. Refrigerate this mixture for 10 minutes.
4) Roll second ½ of the dough and cut the flattened dough. It should be cut into 3inches wide long strips.
5) Take out pie pan and the filling from the refrigerator.
6) Spread the filling on the pie-pan.
7) The edges of the pan should be coated with the beaten egg.
8) The long stripes of dough should now be placed over the filling with even spaces and in a cross-pattern.
9) Place the pie-pan in a preheated oven.
10) Bake it for 15 minutes.
11) Take out the apple-pie from oven when the top crust turns golden-brown.
12) The Apple pie is now ready to serve.
13) You can serve it hot with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
