How To Break The Habit Of Overeating
April 21, 2009
We all have favorite foods that we can’t resist, because we can’t resist these foods we tend to stuff ourselves. But the problem is that most of these foods are those that give us the excess calories that we want to avoid. They also tend to contain the toxins that affect our health negatively.
Recognize the problem
To break away from the habit of overstuffing yourself with the foods you like, you must accept the fact that you have the habit of overstuffing yourself. This is the first major step towards getting out of this problem. If you don’t think this is a problem, there is no way you can get out of the problem.
Replace the bad foods
The next thing is to replace all those bad foods with other healthy foods. If you like something that is not good for you, replace it with something you like. For example, if you like deep fried chicken, you can replace it with roasted chicken. You also have to decide on such foods that are generally safe, such as vegetables. No matter how you stuff yourself with such foods, you will not add extra pounds to yourself. Always keep a lot of these foods at home.
Get support
One important factor in this is that you have to find support and motivation in order to break away from this habit. Habit of this nature could be addictive and very difficult to break. Other techniques and support are important in getting out.
Reward yourself
One other thing you have to do is to reward yourself. You can reward yourself daily or weekly if you are able to achieve the goals you set for yourself. But make sure your reward is not something that worsens your problem. This is one way of convincing yourself that you are doing the right thing. Self motivation is as critical as deciding to break the habit.
Beware of the choices you make
You must know that what ever affects your weight is your own choice. You must therefore assess the general effect of whatever choices you are making. If you have this at the back of your mind, you will make plans that you stick to.
It may seem very difficult to break habits especially in the beginning but in the end the results are very gratifying.
