The diaper is one of the most important wears of the baby. This is required till the baby gets trained in proper usage of the toilet. It should be comfortable for the baby. Hence selection of the diaper becomes all the more important, since the baby cannot express whether the diaper is comfortable or not.
But selection becomes more difficult because of the availability of many brands from all over the world claiming theirs is best for the baby. Here we discuss how to go about the selection of the diaper for our small baby.
Selection of diaper:
The first thing to be kept in mind is whether to go for cloth diapers or disposable diapers. Both are having advantages as well as disadvantages.
The very first consideration is cost. Disposable diapers cost more, whereas cloth diapers are cheaper. However, the disposable diaper has the advantage of changing and disposing of the same in public places. The same will have to be disposed of once the baby wets it or otherwise hygienic problems will arise. On the other hand, cloth diaper is cheaper since they can be used after washing.
They are in use for generations since they do not contain much of colors of the disposable diapers, which come with a hue of attractive colors and which may harm the soft skin of the baby. Also they contain only natural fibers which are soft to the delicate skin of the baby. The disadvantage is that it cannot be changed and disposed of in public and has to be carried home to wash and reuse it.
Disposable diapers are available in various sizes. Some brands are numbered and some others are designated as small, medium, large and extra large. The box is printed with details such as which size suits the age and weight of the baby and hence selection becomes easy. Also the diapers come fitted either with tape or Velcro fasteners. Some special diapers come with extra padding and some other with the characteristic of extra absorbency. Diapers are available for night wearing also.
Whatever diaper is selected, care has to be taken to select a size which fits comfortably and not tight to the baby since the baby cannot express the same.
