How To Choose Eye Shadow Color

By on September 20, 2011

Your eyes define your face. And if you want to mesmerize everyone with your captivating eyes at a social do, here are some fantastic tips on choosing the right eye make up to light them up instantly.

Considerations For Blue Eyes

Blue eyes are best when kept simple. And you can do just that by applying a very thin line of copper colored eye liner over your eyelid, and team it up with plenty of mascara to create that oomph effect!

If you are moving out in the daytime, opt for a shimmery eye shadow that would open up your eyes considerably with its light reflecting finish, and yet keep the attention fixed at your eyes with its comparatively dim undertones.

For example, a very light shade of pink shimmery eye shadow with a rosy undertone can do wonders in highlighting blue eyes. For a more dramatic effect that would be suitable for parties and night events, opt for brown shades that contain plenty of shimmer. Don’t go too dark on the shades though for you might accidentally divert the attention from your eyes then.

Considerations For Green Eyes

You may not believe it, but one of the best eye shadow shades for green eyes happens to be purple. And a shimmery purple shadow that completely surrounds your eyes would make the latter look vibrant and full of life.

If purple is a bit too rich for you, opt for softer shades, including shimmery lavender with a bit of purple undertone to it. In addition to making your eyes stand out beautifully, the shadow would create illuminant sheen on your eyelids.

Another way to use purple eye shadow and get away with it is to dab on some extra mascara to make your eye lashes look extra thick and dark. This would camouflage the extra sheen of the eye shadow while letting it beautifully highlight the eyes through the gaps.

If you don’t like shimmery eye shadows, then a sheer burgundy eye shadow is your best bet. Sweep it over your lids and blend it in with your brow bones to highlight your eyes nicely. Complete the look by applying grey liner and lengthening mascara on your lashes.

Considerations For Brown Eyes

Brown eyes are adaptable to a number of eye shadow shades and you can experiment with a good number of colors before zeroing in on the best options. However, if you are in a hurry, here are some shades that would never let you down.

Pale champagne eye shadow would look on brown eyes when coupled with a cream colored eye liner applied to the lower lashes. Apply some mascara to your lashes and voila! You are ready to bowl them over with your killer look.

Even simple, black colored eye liners can enhance the look of brown eyes to a great extent. Accordingly, you can use either liquid liners or pencil liners to do the trick although we recommend the second option in order to avoid smudging.

Once you apply the liner to both the upper and lower lash lines, apply some lengthening mascara to your lashes to make them extra thick and rich to make your brown eyes stand out. If you prefer a darker look, opt for charcoal grey smoky eye shadow (or other dark shades) that would make your eyes look deep and rich.
