How To Disguise Thinning Hair
Both men and women suffer from thinning hair. But instead of throwing your hands up in defeat, try some of the following techniques to hide the thin areas, get a funky look or fool others into thinking that you have thick, full hair.
Length is important
People with thinning hair should refrain from wearing it long. Short hair can make the hair look thicker and fuller. Plus, by keeping the hair short you can choose different styles to accentuate your strong facial features.
If you are not comfortable with a short, cropped look, you can try wearing your hair in an ear-length bob with some long bangs in the front that can be swept to the side.
If you absolutely cannot part with your long hair even though it is thinning, you can always pull it back into a ponytail that sits high atop the head. This will keep the hair pulled back away from your face to show off your facial features and focus less on your thinning hair. You can also use hair accessories that will increase the volume of your ponytail. When you wrap your hair in a ponytail it is important to use the proper type of rubber band. Also, take care not to wrap the hair too tight as it may break off.
A blow dryer can add some volume to your hair and make it look fuller. When you use a blow dryer on your hair, flip your hair upside-down and dry the hair at the roots.
Thinning hair can easily be disguised by getting a hairstyle that is cut in layers. Layers can create the illusion of fullness while retaining a stylish appearance. When you wear your hair combed straight and even it makes your thinning hair more obvious. By adding layers you are adding volume and dimension.
What can men do?
Some men start seeing their hair thin around the mid-20’s and they feel as though it is the end of the world for them. But this is not the case. Men have almost as many choices as women when it comes to disguising thinning hair…and no, we’re not talking about the old comb-over!
There are so many hot hairstyles for men right now such as buzz cuts and even shaving the head bald. And the cool thing is that men with full heads of hair are choosing to wear these hairstyles. So no one will ever suspect that you’re hair is thinning. You can also try coloring your hair. Stay with darker colors as lighter colors will accentuate the thin or bald spots.
