How to Eat During the Holidays

Do you spend enough time with holidaying with friends on holidays? Do you consume many of those rich holiday meals? Did you know that rich holiday meals can undo all the work you did at the gym in no time and leave your waistline distorted? 

Here are a few tips carefully coined to help you stay away from these fatty foods especially at holiday parties.

Eat before going

Generally, party food is very delicious. This is no reason why you should go to a party with an empty stomach, reason being that you would be compelled to eat what is on offer there, fatty or not.  Before going out to a party you can have a low fat, but healthy dinner with some proteins and carbohydrates to fill up the stomach; such as a plate of brown rice and a 4 oz piece of chicken.

Try some healthy and crunchy cereals such as Granola in your Yoghurt. You can also take some fruits, along with half a cup of cottage cheese.

Ask before loading your plate

You can make enquiries in the kitchen, entering on the pretext of helping the host. Find out the healthiest options which may be steamed vegetables or salad with no dressing.

There are quite a number of ways to make the food in your plate last long enough. It generally takes about 20 minutes of eating to feel full, so the slower you eat, the more you get satisfied after eating just a little. You know it is not very easy to go up for second rounds at parties. The best idea is to sit close to some one you have not seen in a while. Put down your fork and chat up between bites. When you have a long and interesting conversation going, you surely would be full before the meal is over and too busy to ask for a second round.

Avoid calorie packed festive drinks

Margaritas or spiked eggnog are as high in calories as the meals you avoided at the party. Rather take a glass of Champagne and sip it slowly. You could share it like a waitress and be more sociable to keep yourself busy, and avoid distraction that other drinks and food on the table can cause you.
