How To Get Rid Of Scaly Lips

It is not easy to take care of our skin especially that of our face in order to protect it from prematurely aging, wrinkles or fine lines. We try to maintain it as meticulously as we can. Our lips are no exception to this fact.

What are common problems we face with our lips?

Dryness caused by dehydration is the most common source problems with lips. Since our lips are actually made of fine skin, scaly or what is even worse, cracks are most commonly experienced.

We have always been warned how environment and temperature can dehydrate our skin. In terms of our lips, people with low tolerance for cold climatic conditions, especially to the bitter winds of winter, are most susceptible to this. Some are so sensitive that even a strong air conditioner can crack their lips or make them turn scaly.

In addition, it may have something to do with nutrients that are not properly supplied to our body. Or, it could be genetically passed down to you.Majority of smokers have discolored lips. This is due to the nicotine content of the cigarette.

What can we do to prevent lips from scaling?

Solving this problem is like fighting against nature. Usually application of a lip balm can help prevent it, but proper treatment may be needed.

Here are simple and easy steps to remedy scaly lips.

Exfoliating your lips is a great way to soothe your scaly lips. Here’s how.

First, apply Vaseline Petroleum Jelly to your lips. Next, get a soft bristled toothbrush – if possible, an unused one – and use it to massage your lips gently. This procedure will help stimulate blood circulation in your lips. Do not overdo it as it could hurt your lips too.

The Jelly helps in moisturizing your lips, thus avoiding dryness. There are other products you can use to exfoliate your lips and good taste is a plus. Search online for products that could help you or try the Lip Scrub by Sara Happ.

Keep using your lip balm every time you feel your lips are dry even if you are just inside your home. There are lipsticks also that have natural ingredients, which may help your scaly lips. And do exfoliate from time to time.
