How To Identify Your Skin Type

March 7, 2009

skin-careFacts about Normal Skin

Supple and clear skin is considered normal.  There is good circulation of the blood that makes the skin feel like it comes from excellent inner health.  The skin is not greasy and is not too dry.  Cleaning two times a day with water and a mild soap will keep normal skin healthy.

Facts about Dry Skin

Wrinkles are something that happens when the skin becomes too dry.  A mild soap should be used to cleanse the skin and then baby oil that has been warmed should be applied after either a shower or a bath.

Every evening the skin needs to be massaged with a cream that is nourishing.  In the morning, before a bath or shower, a mixture of egg yoke with a few drops of lime juice, oil, rose water and orange juice.  Or, you can mix the egg with half a teaspoon of olive oil and a few drops of rose water plus one teaspoon of honey.

These are beauty masks that work well and are all natural.  Besides doing this, if possible, a milk bath should be taken once a week.  This will not only soothe the nerves but will leave you feeling very refreshed and youthful.  Warmed bath water, in which powdered milk, and about one half a tablespoon of almond oil and a touch of perfume is added will not only do wonders for your skin but it will help you whole body relax.

Facts about Oily Skin

If you have found your makeup becoming patchy either on your nose or your forehead, you have oily skin.  Try using some cucumber juice on the parts of the skin that seem to be excessively oily.  If the entire face ends up being patchy after applying makeup, apply witch hazel and lime juice (in equal quantities) you will be able to use makeup as this will help to dry the skin to a normal condition.

Facts about Combination Skin

When the skin is both dry and oil it is considered a combination skin type. Areas that are dry should be moisturized and the places that are oily will need an astringent.  Both areas should be treated on a daily basis.

Facts about Sensitive Skin

A finely textured type skin is considered to be a sensitive skin type.  Sensitive skin will react quickly to any kind of stimulant and will be damage very easily.  Sunscreen is important and using a soap that is very mild, like baby soap and then patting dry rather than rubbing is important.  Makeup is usually an irritant and so are most perfumes.  Be careful about any kind of application that you leave on your skin for long periods of time.
