How To Keep Marriage Intact
August 10, 2009
In the medical dramas, the doctor often checks the pulse of a patient and declares her/him dead. But the doctor could be wrong. The patient may come back to life. Same thing can be said about a marriage that is going through a hard time.
Every couple married or not, goes through a hard time. But this does not mean that one has to terminate the relationship. In a marriage if one of the spouse is not happy and having a problem to cope with the situation then she/he might think of divorce as an option. And it can be seen that the friends and family of that very person also agree to that decision. But that is only because they hear one side of the story.
So why does all this happen. It is because there is a lack of communication. If a couple is having a hard time keeping the marriage save then it is a must that they talk to each other to clear out whatever issue they have between themselves. And in this case, it is better not to involve friends and family at the first place. After all too many cooks spoil the broth.
If the discussion does not help then the next best option is to go for couple’s therapy. There is nothing to feel shy about when one needs help. And in this case, one needs the advice from someone who is capable of giving suggestions and be neutral at the same time.
No gain will ever come if there is no compromise and sacrifice. By having, a good discussion both of the spouses must find a common ground that they can stand on. Both have to give their best effort to accept the other one’s choice. At the same time, they have to respect each other. The underlying message is that it is better not to dump ones own wishes on the other and expect to accept everything calmly.
Many a times there are children involved, and when a marriage falls apart it is the children who suffer the most. Try to negotiate and see what can be done about the matter. The solution can only be found if someone sticks to the problem and tries to solve it. In other words, do not declare the patient dead just yet. Check the pulse one more time.
