The most important rule of natural looking makeup is to choose colors that are similar to your natural skin tone. Bright colors or colors like blue, yellow, golden, green, etc will make it obvious that makeup has been applied.

Use a Concealer

Women with a completely flawless skin are blessed and really few in number. Most women have to use a concealer to hide dark spots, under eye dark circles, blemishes or some other spots or marks in the face. The concealer should be of exactly the same color or shade as your skin tone. Apply the concealer on the exact spot that you want to cover.

Choose and Apply the Right Foundation

Foundation is the base of any makeup and hence probably the most important element of makeup. So you would not want to go wrong with this. Pick a foundation that is closest to your natural skin tone.

Always test the foundation color in natural day light. Make dots of foundation on your face and blend the same evenly with your fingers or a sponge. While blending the foundation with your fingers keep the strokes light.

The Blusher or Bronzer

You need to be extra cautious while using a blusher or a bronzer. To make your makeup look natural you need to choose a blush the color of which is similar to your lips.

Choose a cream blush instead of a powder one. You can even dab some lipstick of natural color on your cheeks and blend it well.

If you want to use a bronzer, choose a shade lighter than you usually use or use your normal bronzer very lightly. Never go overboard with blush or bronzer as that will immediately make you look all made up.

The Eye Makeup

Skip the eyeliner and opt for only a mascara of the same or similar hue as your eyelashes. You can also use little eye shadow but be very cautious. Use a soft brown hue or a color that is just a shade darker than your skin tone. Apply the shadow on the creases, blend it well and leave no hard edges of it.

Color the Lip

For coloring your lips choose a nude shade or a color that is similar to your natural lip color. You can choose a lipstick or a lip gloss. Lip stain is another option for coloring your lips without making them look made up.

Usually lipsticks and lip glosses of colors like pink and champagne go down well with natural makeup while dewy-rose or pearly-salmon are great colors in lip stains.

Also, avoid using the color directly on your lips from the tube. Put the color on your lips with your fingertips, blending it thoroughly from center to the corners.
