Homemade Organic Hair Masks

Hair Mask For Dry Hair

Those of you having dry and coarse hair can make use of a hair mask containing avocado and mayonnaise.  The combined action of avocado and mayonnaise is found to be very helpful in moisturizing the hair.  In addition to this, the oil and protein content in these products will also help to strengthen hair that is brittle.

To make the hair mask, you will have to mash the flesh of a ripe avocado and then mix it thoroughly with 2 tablespoons of organic mayonnaise. Apply this hair mask on damp hair and wash it off after 30 minutes.

Another hair mask for dry hair, which is to be used on a weekly basis, can be made from honey. Honey has been used as a natural moisturizing agent from time immemorial. To prepare the hair mask, you will have to mix together half a cup of honey with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. This hair mask should be  applied on wet hair and should be rinsed off thoroughly after half an hour. Do see to it that you rinse off the hair mask in a thorough manner, or else you will be left with hair that is greasy and sticky.

A Conditioning Hair Mask

There are a number of hair masks which can be used to give your hair a conditioning treatment. One such hair mask can be made by combining yogurt and eggs. While the action of yogurt will make your tresses soft and silky, the action of eggs will help in cleaning your scalp and strengthening your hair.

To make the hair mask, you will have to beat an egg thoroughly until it is foamy and then mix it with 6 tablespoons of plain yogurt. The mask is to be applied on your hair and is to be shampooed off after 15 minutes of application.

You can also prepare a conditioning hair mask by using coconut milk as the sole ingredient. If you are running short of coconut milk, then you can make use of coconut cream, which will be readily available at local stores.

A Volumizing Hair Mask

Those of you who have thin and limp hair can make use of a volumizing hair mask made from banana. To prepare the hair mask, you will have to puree 2 whole bananas and add it to 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and store in an airtight plastic container for further use.

Another effective volumizing hair mask can be made by mixing together 1 tablespoon each of castor oil, cream and oat flakes. This hair mask is to be applied on dry hair and is to be washed off after 4 to 5 hours.
