How to Properly Apply Blush – Contouring Your Face
Blush is generally used as the last piece of cosmetic while applying makeup on your face. Applying the right amount of blusher and in the right places on the face can leave your face looking wider or longer, as desired.
Mentioned below are a few tips that could be used while blush application on your face:
Applying a bit of shimmer on your cheekbones (the highest point), near the eyes can leave you looking sexy instantly. Use a darker shade of blusher to highlight your cheekbones and gradually use a lighter shade while moving towards your cheeks to give it a natural look.
Use baby wipes or cleansers that are non-soapy to clean the blush brushes, as unclean brushes can transmit bacteria onto the skin. Use your fingertips to apply cream blush on your lips.
Applying dusky pink blushers especially on tendons which are below your ears can warm and freshen your face; however avoid using blush on your chin, if the skin on your neck is lighter than that on your face.
Wash your hands thoroughly after applying liquids or gels on your cheeks to avoid stains on your skin. While using gels, dab them as dots on your cheek and cheekbones and rub them gently in circles from your cheeks to the hairline to get a well blended look.
To make your face look little wider, apply the blusher on your cheekbones from under the centre of your eyes to your temple. Suck your cheeks in, use a dark shade in the hollow area and make a “C” shape just up to your temples and not higher than your eyebrows. Use lighter shades on top of your cheekbones until the area under the eye. Use very little blush on the tip of your nose, chin and forehead.
Use a full and round brush to apply blush instead of the small brush that comes with the blusher for a softer and professional look. Use separate brushes for powder and blusher. Always apply powder blush in one direction only. This will avoid streaking.
While using powder blush, take some blush on the brush and tap off all the extra powder in the box before applying it on the face. Similarly, while using a gel or liquid, dab a dot or two on your finger and then apply it on the face.
Determine the exact position of your cheek apple by looking into the mirror and smiling. Then move the brush in the form of an arc from your cheekbone towards the hairline. Use light shades for the perfect blend.
To make your face look little longer, apply blusher on the area near your hairline. Suck your cheeks in, use a dark shade in the hollow area and make a “C” shape just up to the eye on both sides. Now apply lighter shades on your cheekbones, cheek apple and chin, and make your face look slimmer.
