How To Rejuvenate Your Skin

March 4, 2009

skincare2If you find that you have a dull and lifeless skin and if you are keen to restore its natural glow, it is possible to do so by using skin care products and that too sitting at home. Basically this involves regularly treating your skin by removing the existing dead cells and replacing them by new cells. This process will soften your skin and make it look brighter. Skin rejuvenation includes cleaning, exfoliating and moisturizing it and this process is detailed below.

How to Rejuvenate Your Skin

Know the Skin Type

First of all you should find out after consulting a dermatologist whether your skin type is normal, dry, oily or combination of both and the dermatologist will prescribe the products suited to your skin type.

Clean the Face

The second step is to clean your skin with lukewarm water in order to ensure the loosening of dirt from your face and unclogging the pores. After washing and rinsing the cleanser with cool water, apply it on your face and allow it to remain there for half a minute; then wash your face completely with water. The cleanser must be soap-free otherwise the soap will dry out the skin.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is a process wherein the dead cells are effectively replaced by new cells. Cleanse your face with cold water and apply on a sponge an exfoliating scrub suited for your skin. This sponge must be rubbed on your face with circular motions for a short time and you must clean your face with water.

Moisturize

After completing exfoliation, you must moisturize your face with a moisturizer that has aloe vera gel as well as natural anti-oxidant extracts. In case your skin is sensitive or allergy prone, it is advisable not to apply moisturizers with fragrances since it is harmful. Application of moisturizer has to be done on a wet skin once exfoliation is completed.

Sunscreen

Lastly, you must protect your skin from harmful Ultra-Violet rays. You may use sunscreens such as cream, gel and lotions available for this purpose. The sunscreen should contain SPF and this will protect your skin from harmful UV rays from the sun.

Some Tips

• Regular skin treatment.

• Use a cleanser suitable for your skin.

• For oily/ normal skin exfoliate; for sensitive/ dry skin exfoliate 1-2 times a week.

• Too much of moisturizer can clog the pores.

• Take a diet with balanced foods, fruits and vegetables.

• Drinking lots of water makes your skin healthy and soft.

• The anti oxidants in the green tea rejuvenate the skin whereas the anti oxidants in black tea keepthe skin healthy; Drink either of them.
