May 1, 2009

blackheadfreefaceBlackheads, caused by blocked pores, can be embarrassing. The black appearance gives the illusion of dirt clogging the pores, but it’s actually natural oil or sebum, that blackheads due to the oxidizing effect of the air.

Everyone cleans their face, but inside your pores is where the trouble lies. It takes more than a splash of water and bit of soap.

Removal strips are the most common form of blackhead treatment available. Strips are moistened with water and placed on the nose. This is the most likely place for blackhead formation. When the strip is completely dry, peel it completely off and, with any luck, most of the blackheads are removed with it.

Home remedies for Removing blackheads appeals to many people. Maybe they don’t want others to see them, or perhaps they just consider it easier. Either way, you have to be careful when trying this at home. If you’re not gentle, scars could form.

The best way to try removal at home is to steam your face for about ten minutes, either with a steamer or just a bowl of boiling water and a towel tented over the head. Use a cotton ball to urge the blackheads gently out of your skin once your pores are open.

Exfoliating your skin is a great way to prevent blackheads from forming in the first place. A gentle face scrub removes dead skin, thereby preventing it from accumulating and blocking your pores. Remember to be always gentle with your face, lest you cause even more damage. Daily exfoliation has been said to completely remove blackhead, but you really only ought to do it twice a week.

Face scrubs are available at beauty and grocery stores, but you could also make one in your own home. Mix an egg white with a tablespoon of coarse salt and massage it gently into your face. Let it dry, wash it off, and feel the effect it has on your skin. If egg white isn’t your thing, add the salt to a honey and lemon mixture instead.

Just remember to keep your skin fresh and clean with twice daily cleansing, moisturizing, and toning. Avoid makeup when you’re sweating, and wash it off completely before bed.
