How To Stay Cool At Work During The Hot Summer

February 3, 2010

If the days are getting shorter and hotter, and the nights longer and colder, you can be sure that it is summer time. With temperatures so hot that it can even become dangerous for your health, it is very important to learn how to literally keep your cool.

What do you do if your job requires you to wake up in the morning, dress in a suit and go to work in that hot weather? Do not fear, we are going to talk about some of the best, yet simple ways of keeping the temperature of your body at an acceptable level when it gets too hot out there.

The fabric of the clothing is very important. Always make sure to choose a good one for hot temperatures, it can be crucial when dressing for the day. It should also be comfortable and breathable for your skin. Choose something made of cotton or other natural fibers. They help absorb the moisture very well and allow your skin to breathe more. For dress shirts, use something made from cotton and for the summer suits, go with something made from wool, which is a perfect fabric thanks to its breath ability.

It is important to keep in mind that it is possible for certain types of wool to not be so good for the warm temperature. They sometimes tend to create a sensation of itchiness when they are in direct contact with the sweaty skin. On the other hand, linen is the exact opposite – it is an awesome material for summer suits, not always appropriate for any business occasion because it can wrinkle very easily. Keep in mind that it is important to stay away from any synthetic fibers like nylon or polyester because they can increase the amount of heat you body receives.

To conclude this article, remember to always drink lots of water throughout the hot summer days. It really helps to bring your temperature down while preventing dehydration and sunstroke. Try to avoid drinking any caffeine or alcohol because being diuretics; they speed up the dehydration process. From time to time it would not hurt to just take off your clothes and go for a swim in the pool.
