Indoor Games For Your Preschooler
Keeping a preschooler happy, active and out of trouble is not an easy task, especially when they are indoors. Have a list of games readily available for them to participate in when they are stuck in the house. Following are some fun games to keep them occupied.
The first game may be called a Mother’s Day scavenger hunt but it can happen at any time. Buy a package of Mother’s Day scavenger hunt game cards. You can find them on the internet. Cut the cards so that each letter has its own card. Tell the children to close their eyes as you hide the letters throughout the room. When you are done, let the children run around the house looking for the cards. The first child who finds the majority of the cards wins.
Another activity is really fun. It involves bowling with fruit. Gather together six plastic cups and some round fruit. Some fruits to use are oranges, lemons and kiwis. Stack the cups up like bowling pins with three in the back, two in the center and one up front. Have the child select a round piece of fruit and roll it towards the cups. They need to try and knock over as many as possible.
Bingo is a great way to keep kids busy while teaching them their numbers or colors. You will need a game board and either stickers or sticky note pads. Make two copies of the game board; one for you to keep as the main game board and one to make up the bingo cards. Cut out the individual cards. Make sure that each child playing has a game board.
Pick a card from the deck and show it to the child or children. If you are working with colors and you select a blue card, have the child find something in the room that is blue. If the child selects the correct item, give them a sticker to cover a square on the board. The child with the most stickers wins.
There are many fun and educational games that you can play with your preschool child while they are in the house.
