Inexpensive Thanksgiving Decorations
Thanksgiving is just a couple of days ahead and it is time to count your blessings and not your holiday bills. With the recent recession hitting the economy, high end holiday bills for decoration and food is not high on anybody’s list. And that does not mean that the fun and enjoyment stops too! With a little bit of ingenuity, Thanksgiving decorations can be made very interesting.
The harvest season is rich in vibrant color that will spruce up your holiday decor.
Vegetables like squash and gourds tend to be ripe now and these can be used as inexpensive Thanksgiving decorations. You can use fresh gourds and squash in arrangements on a platter, in a bowl or simply sitting on your Thanksgiving dinner table. The changing colors of the leaves can inspire a decorating theme that pulls in elements from other seasons. Bright gold and oranges that were meant for hot summer can be reused as fall colors, with reds and browns. The pumpkin holiday decorations from Halloween can be re-used for Thanksgiving decor, as long as they are not with carved with spooky faces! Another great idea is to visit your local craft store and use their help to cut several leaves from art or chart papers or even construction paper. Have everyone in the home write their blessings on the backsides of the leaves and hang them from a branch or inside a window. They will look really good as artificial leaves.
Better still is to get creative, and use the imagination. Gourds, Indian corn, roasted nuts and dried flowers, leftover Halloween pumpkins, and plenty of other food items can be used as inexpensive Thanksgiving decorations. You can add decorative items made from nature and incorporate fall colors from other decorative elements used at other times of the year. Decorating is easy and fun as long as the budget is kept in mind. It really does not take much of work. So this Thanksgiving, along with counting your blessings make a statement with your decorating themes too.
