Wrinkles and lines on the skin are mostly caused by environmental and lifestyle factors so it is in our hands how we take care of our skin and make it look healthy. Lifestyle changes can help prevent wrinkles and keep you looking young.
Water Intake
Daily water intake per person should be between 8-10 glasses. Water is necessary for the proper functioning of the body and organs. It keeps the skin dehydrated and looking young and healthy. Good consumption of fluid on a daily basis also helps to prevent wrinkles.
However, fluids that are necessary include water, fresh fruit and natural juices. These fluids should not be replaced with coffee, carbonated drinks or alcohol as they tend to dehydrate the skin and has negative effects on the health of the skin.
Get Enough Sleep
Sleeping allows the skin to renew and repair organs. It is important to maintain a regular sleep pattern. This helps energize the body and the skin feels healthier. Getting enough sleep also helps prevent dark under eye circles.
Reduce Stress
Stress has negative effects on the health and body of individuals. High levels of stress lower the level of blood flow reaching the skin. This causes puffiness and dark circles to form under the eyes. Yoga, massage and relaxation will help to get rid of stress and worries.
Protection from the sun
The harmful rays of the sun (ultra violet radiation) causes major skin diseases such as skin cancer. It causes the skin to lose its elasticity and leads to formation of fine lines and wrinkles. In other words, it causes premature aging. Therefore, it is advisable to wear sunscreen and protective clothing when getting out in the sun.
Quit Smoking and Drinking
Smoking and alcohol are not good for the skin. They make the skin look pale and unhealthy. They contain toxins which dehydrate the body and damage the skin form inside. Drinkers are found to have more wrinkles than non drinkers do as alcohol consumption is a leading cause of premature aging.
Healthy Diet
A diet containing fresh fruits and vegetables is important for the skin and body as they contain antioxidants. Antioxidants fight against unwanted substances and free radicals that damage the skin and tissue cells.
