A lip balm is an unavoidable and essential item in every girl’s make up bag. This product helps us to deal effectively with the problem of dry and chapped lips.

A lip balm will basically consist of a moisturizing oil and a waxy substance, which helps to lock the moisture in the lips. There are a variety of lip balms which are available in the market today. But with a bit of time to spare, you can very well make lip balms on your own.

These homemade lips balms will only consist of natural products which will moisturize your lips without causing any unwanted side effects.

To make a simple lip balm, you can mix together equal quantities of beeswax and jojoba oil and heat the mixture until the beeswax has melted completley. Pour the mixture into a container and allow it to cool down completley before using it.

In order to make the lip balm a nourishing one, you can add Aloe vera gel to the mixture and then heat it up. Do take extra care while heating the mixture, as beeswax is supposed to be highly inflammable in nature.

In order to make your lips soft and supple, you can also make a lip balm which consists of shea butter as the base. The fatty acids present in shea butter will help in healing dry and chapped lips.

To make the lip balm, you can heat together 3 teaspoons of shea butter and almond oil until they have completley melted. To this melted mixture add a few drops of Vitamin E oil and keep on stirring.

To make your shea butter lip balm be flavored, add a few drops of peppermint oil or half a teaspoon of honey to the mixture. Keep on stirring, until the mixture attains a uniform composition. Allow the mixture to cool down and harden and your lip balm will be ready to use.

Addition of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate extracts will give the lip balm flavor and color. In order to make your homemade lip balm more firm and hard, you should add an extra amount of beeswax or shea butter. If you want your lip balm to be more oily, then do increase the quantity of moisturizing oils added to it.
