Making A Relationship Work
Most people are looking for the right person to spend the rest of their lives with. So why is it that when someone finds their perfect match things still don’t run smoothly?
The reason is that a relationship takes work. It’s just like a business partnership. Things don’t just happen or resolve themselves. It takes work. Some ways and tips to keep a relationship strong?
Tip One
Start the relationship on a clean slate. That means, leave the drama at the door. Forget about the men in the past and what they did or didn’t do. Don’t blame this new man for the damage that was caused by others in the past.
Tip Two
Don’t set this new man up for failure. Just because a past boyfriend couldn’t come through in a similar situation does not mean that this man will automatically fail as well. Give him a fighting chance.
Tip Three
Think rationally when there is a glitch in the relationship. All relationships experience troubled periods. Before saying or doing something that can be regretted later, think everything through rationally before acting. By surviving a troubling situation together the relationship will grow stronger and both partners will see that they can work things out together.
Tip Four
Admit when the individual is at fault. We all make mistakes. The bigger person will admit their mistake and try to correct it rather than blaming it on someone else. Also, learn to use the word “sorry”.
There are times when one should stand up for themselves but relationships are a give-and-take and sometimes apologies are in order. On the other hand, don’t get flippant with these apologies. Apologies are meant for moments of sincerity and not sarcasm. So use the phrase, “I am sorry” when it is appropriate and keep the attitude out of the voice.
Relationships don’t come easy. It’s never easy when two strangers come together and try to become one. These are just four of the most basic steps to building a strong relationship and keep it going. Each relationship is different and takes different actions to make it work.
