Mineral Makeup – The Next Big Thing?
November 26, 2008
The world of beauty is always undergoing a change. Man’s quest for discovering the new, has lead to the beauty world too. The recent trend in makeup is seen in the form of Mineral Makeup. Mineral Makeup is made from pure crushed minerals and inorganic pigments found in nature.
Unlike the regular liquid foundations, mineral foundations have a powdery consistency but are still different from the usual pressed powder. They do the same work too, without spreading an oily base. Mineral makeup is all natural, is light on your skin, even for people with sensitive skin.
The advantages of using mineral makeup are many. Though it is a little costlier from normal makeup, it gives great coverage, and contains no oils, making it less likely to clog your pores and cause breakouts. There is also a natural sunscreen found in most mineral makeup that will help prevent the sun from damaging your skin. Another advantage is that the makeup is great even in humid weather, and hence there is no danger of your face looking like a pool. Most of the major cosmetic companies are starting their own lines of mineral makeup. They include foundations, concealers, blush, eye shadows, and even eyeliners in the most popular shades for the season.
The art of applying mineral makeup is bit different. Unlike the normal ones, when you open your container of mineral makeup, just take out very little. A little goes a long way and you can always add more if needed. Next, take your makeup brush and whirl it around in the container. Make sure the brush is picking up the minerals. Be sure to dust off any extra minerals by lightly tapping the brush onto the side of the jar. Then swirl the brush full of minerals onto your face in a circular motion. Start with your cheeks and then forehead, chin, and nose. Be sure to blend all the way down onto your neck for a smooth look. This whole process usually takes about 2 minutes, so it can be applied even if you are short on time. The same procedure is followed when applying the makeup on the cheeks and eyelids instead of over the entire face.
Therefore it can be said that mineral makeup is here to stay and even its higher cost is not much compared to the ever present glow that will grace your skin.
