Natural Makeup
February 5, 2009
Natural makeup is nothing other than applying your makeup in such a way that the colors and shades that you use are very close to your own natural color and the makeup gives your natural appearance an enhancement. Tones that are already a part of your own complexion are used in this type of makeup.
Any complexion is a combination of several hues as well as undertones. Natural makeup works with these natural tones and hues to create a beautiful and natural look. One thing should be clear by now, and that is that natural makeup does not in any way imply a no-makeup look.
No makeup simply means that you have neither the time nor the inclination to make an effort. In fact, natural makeup is something close to being opposite of this. A careful selection is made of the colours and shades so that they work to enhance your beauty and make it appear as if it were all God-given.
However, you should not get confused about this either. You will not have to spend hours putting on loads of makeup to look natural. It just means that you will learn how to apply makeup in a smart way. Here is how it is done.
The first steps
You should first begin with the normal skin care routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising. You can use a gentle exfoliating gel or cream to get smooth skin and remove the dead and rough skin cells, on which your makeup will tend to stick, giving you a cakey appearance.
Try to remember what colours your face was when you were young or when you were a child. Look at some old photographs if you have to. You simply have to decide what colours and shades your skin naturally had, and once you are done with that, the difficult part is over.
The actual application
Now the step is to correct those dark circles and bags under your eyes.
You do not always have to go for a foundation. You can use a tinted moisturizer instead. Not only will it add moisture, it will also add a slight color. If you have redness on some parts, then use a foundation on those parts.
Give your cheeks a kind pinch. This will give you an idea as to how they used to look when you were a child. Use a rouge of a similar colorfmake.
Apply to the apples of the cheeks. You can also touch a bit of bronzer on the parts where the sun would affect giving you a slight glow.
Keep eye makeup to neutral shades like brown, taupe, peach or mauve. The colour will enhance your eyes.
Use an eyelash curler and clear or brown mascara, which will lengthen your lashes.
Use a creamy lipstick and touch it lightly with gloss in the center so that your lips appear full. You can also go for tinted gloss.
You are all ready to go and dazzle everybody with your natural beauty.
