Osteoporosis – Causes And Prevention
Osteoporosis is a bone condition. In this case, the density of the bone gradually decreases, making the bone fragile and easily breakable.
At the same time, the body fails to repair any kind of bone injury. Many doctors tend to refer to this condition as bones that have holes.
This disease has common symptoms. The patient may suffer from back pain. The patient may also suffer form joint aches and the major bones of the body may hurt as well. Usually people above 50 tend to suffer more from this disease.
However, women are more prone to osteoporosis then men. One out of three women suffers from this disease. Whereas in case of men, it is one out of five who suffers.
Other than pain, there are some other symptoms of this disease as well. The patient might have mood swings or constantly nag and can get irritated easily. They may also become weak and find it hard to perform the simple tasks. Usually they are scared that they will fall when they walk.
There can be several reasons for this disease. Heredity is one of the most common reasons for osteoporosis. Other than that, diet and way of life also plays an important role. Nevertheless, a recent study also says that some medicines can also cause this disease. Here is a special mention, that people who have the habit of smoking or consuming alcohol and who do not tend to move much, are prone to this disease.
Asian women are more prone to this disease than anyone else is. On the other hand, Caucasian women are also as prone to this disease like Asian women.
So how can treat this disease? Some might argue that if this runs in the family, then there is hardly any chance of escaping this. But there are ways to stay fit and keep this disease away.
One has to make a habit of working out regularly. That keeps the bones fit and strong. At the same time, it is better to avoid food that contain too much of fat. Avoid smoking and alcohol and you will see the difference in your health.
