Outdoor Skin Care Tips
January 2, 2009
Fall brings all the sun with it and all the beauty. However, exposing yourself to too much of sun can be harmful to your skin and you can end up losing your beautiful skin to the beauty around you.
Here are some tips that will help you protect your skin when outdoors.
Be careful while gardening
While gardening can be fun, it can be detrimental for your hands. Put on some gardening gloves so that you can protect your hands from calluses, blisters, cuts and scrapes. Besides wearing your gloves, do not forget to wear your sunscreen.
Put on good fabric
Too tight clothing can rub and irritate your skin besides trapping the sweat in and putting you at a risk of a break out. Use breathable fabrics like cotton and wool. Shower after a sweaty workout. Using scent-free detergents and cleaners is a good idea.
Get rid of those tags
Some people have extra bits of skin called skin tags. These can be anything from one millimeter to one centimeter. Although completely benign, they can be annoying. They can cause you to feel less confident if you feel they affect your appearance. However, it is easy to remove them. Therefore, consult your doctor for further information and advice.
Your hair can be sunburst
You probably did not know this. However, this is true. The outer layer of your hair, the cuticle, is the most vulnerable to sun rays. It can make your hair dry and weak. Therefore, besides your sunglasses and sunscreen, remember to put on a hat as well.
Beware of wool
Although wool is a breathable fabric, it can also irritate your skin. Because you cannot avoid wool on colder days, you can avoid its contact with the skin. Cotton and especially silk are the least irritating. Therefore, you can layer these with wool so that these fabrics are touching your skin and not the wool. This way you will keep warm, while your skin stays healthy.
Insect bites can be bad
When you go outside, do not forget to apply an insect repellent generously. Wearing long-sleeved shirts will also help protect against insect bites. Keep your legs covered with some pants and your head protected with a hat. You should avoid perfumes or lotions that tend to attract insects.
If you take proper precautions before going outdoors, your time can be fun and you can keep your skin healthy and glowing too.
